More Sleep

Infants fed with INFAT® containing infant formula had a
longer daily sleep duration compared to infants fed with
the control formula.

Why do babies need to sleep?

Sleep is a natural activity of the brain, and is especially important during early development, similarly to food, drink and safety. Infants spend more time in sleep than in wakefulness during the first two years of their
life, suggesting that sleep plays a more crucial role during this age period. Sleep directly impacts mental and physical development, and is vital to physical growth, the immune system, brain development, learning,
memory, and more.

INFAT® improves sleep in infants

The effect of INFAT® on sleep duration was tested in a double-blind, randomized controlled study on 171 healthy term Chinese infants. The sleep duration in the three days before the 6 and 12-week visits of infants
fed with infant formula containing INFAT® was compared to infant fed with standard formula (the control group), and breast milk. The results as analyzed for 159 infants at 6 and 12 weeks, revealed an advantage for
the INFAT® group which demonstrated higher sleep duration during 24 hours and a trend during night hours compared to the control formula.

INFAT® has a special fat structure, close to that of human milk

Human milk is the optimal choice for infants, but when breastfeeding is not practical, an infant formula that is close to breast milk can help a baby sleep properly. In human breast milk and in most infant
formulas, the fat, primarily triglycerides, provides about 50% of the calories that are needed for healthy growth. Human milk contains a unique structure that is very scarce in vegetable oil. One of the major fatty
acids in human milk, named palmitic acid, is mainly (70-75%) located at the sn2 position on the triglyceride.

INFAT® is a sn2 palmitate fat ingredient which structure and benefits are closer to that found in human milk fat. Infant formulas containing INFAT® promote proper digestion, leading to softer stools, less crying, and may contribute to longer sleep – altogether more comfort for the baby
