As the global population grows, so does the demand for food, presenting a significant challenge to produce food sustainably without harming the environment or compromising on availability, affordability, or taste. At Advanced Lipids, we work hand-in-hand with our customers to address global challenges and support their sustainability ambitions, while setting rigorous sustainability targets for ourselves.
INFAT® is produced and marketed by Advanced Lipids, a joint venture of AAK and IFF. In this capacity, AAK is also the sole producer of INFAT® (all grades) and in charge of its supply chain.
Advanced Lipids is committed to sustainability. Leaning on the supply chain of AAK, sustainability is embedded in all parts of the value chain, from the crop, all the way to the brands.
Climate and Biodiversity are positively impacted by deforestation free policies. AAK’s commitments to sustainable agriculture and deforestation-free supply chains are central to their strategy. Since 2020 all palm oil supply chains are traceable to palm oil Mill. AAK is working towards achieving 100 percent traceability to the palm oil plantation, as well as achieving verified deforestation-free palm and deforestation- and conversion-free soy supply chains.
In 2026 AAK global palm traceability stands at 99 percent, and their verified deforestation-free status for palm has reached 93 percent. This progress reaffirms AAK commitment to sustainable practices and responsible sourcing throughout the value chain.1
Besides climate and biodiversity, sustainability also includes respecting human rights, employee safety, and well-being. Within AAK’s supply chains, the emphasis lies on ethical sourcing, health and safety, and improving livelihoods, all part of a unified strategy. Embedding the respect for human rights throughout our business and supply chain was our number one people priority.
We operate in a continuously changing world, but our ambition remains the same, we are committed to sustainable and innovative practices that prioritize planet, health and nutrition. We are confident in our role as a reliable supplier, meeting and exceeding regulatory requirements while ensuring continuous delivery to our customers.
Palm oil is one of Advanced Lipids most important raw materials, and responsible sourcing of palm is crucial for us. The scale of the crop globally, as well as the environmental and social challenges in each region, require a consistent approach as well as collaboration in the supply chain.
The principal challenge for our industry is to only use palm oil that is grown without deforestation or conversion and with full respect for human rights.
For better sourcing of palm, AAK set up the following ambitions:
Ensuring human rights due
diligence is fully embedded in the value chain1
100% verified deforestation-
free & traceability to plantation1
Reducing operation emissions by
50% and FLAG** emissions by 33%1
Advanced Lipids offer two RSPO certified INFAT® concentrate options:
It is Advanced Lipids vision that the global palm oil supply chain can be fully sustainable and meet global demand without compromising on environmental and social standards is within reach. Ending non-sustainable production and verifying more sustainable production requires a continuous industry transformation across the palm oil value chain. Advanced lipids, the joint venture of AAK and IFF is at the forefront of this change with AAK being a founding member of the Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil. *Peatland is land that holds a lot of carbon in the ground, converting peatland to agricultural land is bad for the climate therefore it is important that the industry does not only focus on no deforestation but also on no agricultural activity on peatland
